Daddy Saturn

Daddy Saturn is the embodiment of discipline, boundaries, and structure.

If we neglect our responsibilities, Saturn will discipline us. If we tend to our duties, Saturn rewards our efforts with the gift of Father Time: a personal legacy built brick by brick. If you’ve had your first Saturn Return (between the ages of 27-30), Saturn wants you to be your own Daddy by establishing healthy boundaries, self-discipline, and taking ownership of your life.

The first Saturn Return thwacks us on the ass and hits us on the head until we get the point: cut out the distractions, hone your focus, and LOCK IN. When we ignore the lessons of our Saturn Return, we find ourselves floundering in the wide open sea with no compass. Saturn doesn’t demand you commit to one thing for the rest of your life, but it does insist you commit your time and energy to something meaningful.

There comes a time when we must separate from our childhood homes and forge our own path (even if, upon reflection on our deathbed, that path looks eerily like our parents’). Ideally, well into adulthood, your father is someone you can trust for guidance, but if you want to forge a path toward greatness, you’ll need to summon your inner Daddy

You lay the foundation your future will be built upon when you let your inner Daddy:

  • Set boundaries guided by your ethics & needs

  • Practice (self) discipline in a way you admired in your youth (or wished you had)

  • Structure your days in a way that supports your longterm goals

This looks different for everyone, and that’s the point. Otherwise, you’d be giving your inner Daddy someone else’s playbook.

Caveats:

  • Sometimes we have to outsource our Daddy, until our inner Daddy can rise to the occasion.

    • No kink shaming here! Do whatcha gotta do.

  • If you haven’t had your first Saturn Return yet, you can still awaken your inner Daddy (and many do before that age).

  • Saturn is in Pisces right now and Pisces loves to dissolve boundaries, so discipline and boundaries may feel slipperier than usual.

Saturn doesn’t care about the short-term. As Father Time incarnate, it prioritizes the long-run - structures built to endure. Daddy Saturn is always present, but whether or not we claim its strength for ourselves or wait for someone else’s Daddy to dictate our lives is a choice.

As our society flirts with fascism, we must let our inner Daddy guide us towards the truth; doing so is an act of resistance. When you work with Saturn, self-mastery, discipline, and healthy boundaries anchor you in the truth. Once you take the reins of your life into your own hands, Saturn will be on your side.
